Zakončil tak podařenou sezónu (během níž nasbíral i několik individuálních ocenění) na třetím místě v tabulce kanonýrů [[Premier League]] (vsítil celkem 21 branek). 1. září 2013 byl oficiálně potvrzen přestup tohoto záložníka do Realu Madrid, částka ale nebyla oficiálně zveřejněna.
