Sezóna 1986/1987 byla 70. sezonou NHL. Vítězem Stanley Cupu se stal tým Edmonton Oilers. V této sezoně došlo k menší úpravě hracího systému. Semifinále divizí se již nehrálo jen na 3 vítězné zápasy, ale na 4.
