Tento obrázek je v Číně nyní volné dílo, protože doba trvání jeho autorských práv vypršela.

Podle autorských zákonů Tchaj-wanu (v současnosti s jurisdikcí na Tchaj-wanu, Peskadorských ostrovech, ostrovech Ťin-men, souostroví Ma-Cu atd.) se všechny fotografie a filmová díla a všechna díla, u nichž je držitelem práv právnická osoba, stávají volnými 50 let po prvním zveřejnění nebo 50 let po vytvoření, pokud dílo nebylo zveřejněno. Všechna ostatní díla se stávají volnými 50 let po smrti autora.

Důležitá poznámka: Díla cizího původu (mimo USA) musí být pro přijetí na Commons volná či svobodně licencovaná jak v zemi původu, tak ve Spojených státech. U děl čínského původu, která se v USA stala volnými z některých zvláštních okolností (např. vydání bez dodržení příslušných amerických formalit), se mohla autorskoprávní ochrana obnovit na základě smlouvy URAA, pokud bylo dílo v zemi původu chráněno ke dni, kdy pro danou zemi nabyla účinnosti URAA. (Pro Čínskou lidovou republiku je tímto dnem 1. leden 1996. Pro Čínskou republiku (Tchaj-wan) pak 1. leden 2002.[1])
