Auch er konnte freilich nicht voraussehen, wasaus Tuzla für ein Bergwerks- und industrielles Centrum werden würde, undunter türkischer Verwaltung wäre es ein solches auch nie geworden. Die Stadt ist beinahe gänzlich umgebaut worden; sie besitzt zwarauch noch ihre türkischen Viertel, aber in der Hauptsache sind d:eStrassen breit und rein, die Gebäude neu und modern. An Stelle desverfallenen Kastells, das demolirt wurde, ist der Sooo Quadratmeter grosseAppellplatz getreten. In dessen Mitte steht ein Obelisk, am Nordende dasim maurischen Stile erbaute Rathhaus. An modernen Amtsgebäuden sinddas Kreisgebäude, das Bezirksamt, das Brigadekommando, das Saline-Amtu. s. w. erstanden.
